Mosman Oil and Gas Limited, an exploration, development, and production company specializing in helium, hydrogen, and hydrocarbons, has recently expanded its helium exploration portfolio through key acquisitions in Colorado, USA.
Sagebrush Project Acquisition
In December 2024, Mosman announced the acquisition of an 82.5% working interest in the Sagebrush Project, a 10,000-acre lease in Colorado. This lease is held by production from seven active oil wells, providing immediate revenue and existing infrastructure to support future exploration activities. The Sagebrush Project is adjacent to Mosman’s Coyote Wash Project, creating a contiguous area for exploration. The acquisition, valued at $630,000, is financed from Mosman’s existing cash reserves and is expected to be finalized by January 31, 2025.
Strategic Significance
The Sagebrush Project is located in an area with proven helium sources and excellent geological sealing properties, essential for trapping helium. The existing oil production infrastructure on the lease provides a foundation for efficient exploration and potential development of helium resources. This acquisition aligns with Mosman’s strategic shift toward helium exploration, aiming to capitalize on the growing demand for this critical gas.
Complementary Projects
The proximity of the Sagebrush and Coyote Wash projects offers operational synergies, allowing Mosman to leverage extensive seismic data and existing infrastructure across both leases. This integrated approach enhances the company’s ability to identify high-potential targets and streamline exploration efforts.
Vecta Helium Project
Earlier in 2024, Mosman acquired a 20% working interest in the Vecta Helium Project, encompassing approximately 48,000 leased acres in Las Animas County, Colorado. The project includes five identified helium prospects, with exploration wells planned for each prospect. The area is known for high helium content, with nearby fields recording 7-11% helium concentrations.
Australian Interests
In addition to its U.S. projects, Mosman has expanded its interests in Australia. In October 2024, the company acquired Greenvale Energy Ltd’s 75% interest in exploration permit EP-145, resulting in Mosman holding a 100% interest in the permit. This acquisition enhances Mosman’s position in the region, providing opportunities for helium, hydrogen, and hydrocarbon exploration.
Future Outlook
With a diversified portfolio of helium and hydrocarbon assets in the U.S. and Australia, Mosman is well-positioned to become a key player in helium exploration and production. The company’s strategic acquisitions and focus on leveraging existing infrastructure and data are expected to drive growth and value creation in the evolving energy sector.
